Conventional Rod Technology

  • CONDUIT CORE

    CONDUIT CORE

Traditionally, as the blank diameter increases, so does the total amount of material used. This was the only way of ensuring strength/durability in the bottom half of the rod. Conduit Core technology removes excess wraps of graphite and replaces them with a proprietary material that’s of equal strength, but dramatically lighter in weight. Casters exert less energy to move the rod, increasing the efficiency of total energy required to manipulate the line when casting, mending, and animating flies.

  • FIBER BLEND

    FIBER BLEND

With a focus on boosting performance, ensitivity, and durability, we began blending different modulus materials to achieve dynamic actions tailored to specific fishing environments or conditions. In choosing materials that enhance these performance characteristics, we were also able to reduce the total blank weights across the board.

  • MULTI-TAPER DESIGN

    MULTI-TAPER DESIGN

Since 1982, we’ve pushed the boundaries of manufacturing technology, materials innovation, and product design. That’s why G. Loomis fly rods deliver superior performance, heightening angler experience and effectiveness on the water.

While there are countless examples of this philosophy in action, one technology in particular encapsulates our drive to build the most advanced rods in the world: Multi-Taper Design.

Multi-Taper Design is best described as a series of “micro-tapers” within the overall taper of the rod. This unique, proprietary process allows us to use more material on potential break points and less material everywhere else. To accomplish this, we manufactured a custom rolling table...and it’s the only one in existence today. The result is a catalog of precisely defined actions that strike a perfect balance between durability and performance.

  • SPIRAL X

    SPIRAL X

This is the description.Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X technology utilizes triple layer construction consisting of an oblique fiber core layer, a longitudinal middle layer, and a reverse-oblique fiber outer layer. This unique construction increases rigidity without increasing weight, providing virtually instantaneous power transmission when casting or fighting a fish.

Spiral X construction consists of three layers: an inner and outer layer of seamless Infinity Tape tightly wound diagonally in opposite directions, and a layer of vertical fibers called Muscle Carbon in between. Utilizing Infinity Tape in place of a traditional sheet of horizontal fibers reduces overall weight and creates actions with superior torsional rigidity and hoop strength.

  • GLX MATRIX

    GLX MATRIX

The series that put G. Loomis on the map. Predecessor to NRX, the GLX graphite system is a proven high-modulus blend coupled with a crazy-durable resin system. A cornerstone of the G. Loomis family for 20+ years, rods built on this platform are lightweight, responsive, and impact resistant. With unique feel and legendary reputation for durability, the GLX continues to be the benchmark technology suite for countless anglers worldwide.

  • NRX MATRIX

    NRX MATRIX

The essence of perfection. Using Mega-modulus material with incredible tensile strength, and our most advanced proprietary GL7 Resin System, rods built on the NRX matrix are the lightest, most sensitive traditionally constructed graphite rods ever produced by G. Loomis. Anglers can easily feel the difference between their lure dragging across sand, gravel and rock in water depths exceeding 60-feet. The graphite, resins, and components used to construct these rods come to life enabling the angler to be confident that they have the right tool for the job while exceeding all expectations.

    RECOIL STRIPPER + RECOIL SINGLE-FOOT/SNAKE

Professional guides have a knack for beating the hell out of their gear, especially in a saltwater environment. Our Recoil guide trains are the closest thing we’ve found to being “guide proof,” offering exceptional durability and supreme weight savings. Nothing else will stand up to years of abuse in skiffs, drift boats, and rod vaults like a Recoil.

  • SIC TITANIUM STRIPPER + TITANIUM RECOIL SNAKE

SIC TITANIUM STRIPPER + TITANIUM RECOIL SNAKE

The perfect marriage of strength, weight savings, and stealth. While our ultra-light titanium snakes look the part of a traditional guide, the added benefit of flexibility is great insurance when storing your sticks in a skiff or drift boat.

  • DYNAMIC RECOVERY TECHNOLOGY

    DYNAMIC RECOVERY TECHNOLOGY

Dynamic Recovery Technology is a blended system of several elements. Our all-new Mega Modulus+ graphite matrix and GL8 resin system, combined with the industry’s most advanced compound taper construction process, creates crisp actions with smooth, rapid recovery. The key to achieving these performance characteristics is a reimaging of our proprietary Multi-Taper Design technology. Traditionally used to enhance durability and swing weight, the G. Loomis design team developed a method of applying a similar process to improve loading efficiency and feedback. This widens the power and recovery “sweet spot”, providing performance with feel regardless of casting distance.

  • CHROME STRIPPER + CHROME SINGLE-FOOT

    CHROME STRIPPER + CHROME SINGLE-FOOT

Pondering innovative ways to reduce rod weight, our Chief Designer, Steve Rajeff, conceptualized a viable option. In 1994, after a few hours of tinkering in our machine shop, the world’s first single-foot guide was born. The weight equivalent of removing two full snake guides from the blank, this guide system is proven to be equally durable. Wondering if they reduce line speed? Steve’s won fourteen world championships using single-foot guides on his competition rods result is a catalog of precisely defined actions that strike a perfect balance between durability and performance descriptions throughout the catalog.
